Foundation day of National Service Scheme celebrated at Modi College, Patiala
The NSS department of Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized a program to celebrate foundation day of National service scheme in collaboration with Marurt Driving School, Patiala.
This programme was aimed at ‘Sadak Suraksha – Jeevan Raksha’. NSS PO Dr. Harmohan Sharma introduced the theme of the day. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar inaugurated the programme and congratulated the NSS PO’s and volunteers for NSS day. He said that it is our responsibility as citizens to obey the rules and regulations laid down by the traffic authority to reduce the death rate on the roads and for public safety. He told that according to various studies more people were killed in road accidents than terrorist attacks in India.
In this programme Chief Guest Sh. Palwinder Singh Cheema, SP, Traffic, an aluminous of college recalled the days spent in the college. While discussing his sports career with the students, he told how he reached to achieve the title of Rustam-e-hind. He further emphasized on the need of maintaining discipline on roads by obeying traffic rules.
Sh. Ashish Sharma from Maruti Driving School discussed about various traffic rules and the causes of death in road accidents through a audio-video presentation. NSS PO Dr. Rajeev Sharma talked about the objectives and motto of NSS. He motivated the students to obey the traffic rules and wear Helmet, seat belts and to control speed while driving on the road. The students took oath to obey the traffic rules. A pledge ceremony was also held in the programme. Prof. (Mrs.) Jagdeep Kaur, NSS PO motivated the students to participate in NSS activities held in the college throughout the year.
Large number of students and NSS volunteers were present. NSS PO Dr. Rajeev Sharma proposed the vote of thanks.

ਅੱਜ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਾਰੂਤੀ ਡਰਾਇਵਿੰਗ ਸਕੂਲ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨੌਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਯੋਗ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨੂੰ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਾਹਨ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਲਾਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਘਾਟਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ‘ਸੜਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਜੀਵਨ ਰੱਖਿਆ’ ਦੇ ਥੀਮ ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਹਰਮੋਹਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਲਈ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਆਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਕਰੀਏ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਮੌਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਘਟੇਗੀ ਬਲਕਿ ਜਨਤਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਵੀ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣੇਗੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਧਿਅਨਾ ਦਾ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮੌਤਾਂ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਪਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਐਸ.ਪੀ., ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਤੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਯਾਦਾਂ ਸਾਂਝੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲੀ ਸਹੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਸਦਕਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਰੁਸਤਮੇ-ਹਿੰਦ ਬਣਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਿਤ ਰਹਿਣ ਅਤੇ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਨੇਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੂਤੀ ਡਰਾਇਵਿੰਗ ਸਕੂਲ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਆਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਡੀਓ-ਵਿਜ਼ਿਉਅਲ ਮਾਧਿਅਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਾਡੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਣਗਹਿਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟ੍ਰੈਫ਼ਿਕ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਕਰਨ, ਹੈਲਮੈਟ ਪਹਿਨਣ, ਸੀਟ ਬੈਲਟਾਂ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਯੰਤਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਟੀਚਿੱਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮਿਸਿਜ਼ ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਲ ਭਰ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਐਨ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ. ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਡਾ. ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।
